 2015 Instructions for When You Want to Upgrade as a Referee

 

To Upgrade from Grade 8 to Grade 7 Referee

All of the requirements are listed in the 2015 USSF/CNRA Referee Certification and Recertification RequirementsAfter you have met the following requirements you will then be registered as a Grade 7 Referee.  There are four requirements that must be met.

  1. You must have proof of working at least 50 games as a referee or assistant referee.
    • 40 at the competitive U16 or higher
    • 10 games at the adult amateur level
  2. You must be a grade 8 referee for 12 months
  3. You must complete the Grade 7 Referee Classroom Course
  4. You must pass the the grade 7 referee test with a score of 80% or higher

To Upgrade from Grade 7 to Grade 6 Referee

All of these requirements are listed in the 2015 USSF/CNRA Referee Certification and Recertification Requirements. After you have met the following requirements you will then be able to select and register for the USSF UPGRADE TO GRADE 6. Along with meeting the annual training hours, there are seven additional requirements that must be met.

  • You must be 18 years of age. (This may be waived by the State Referee Administrator on individual basis.)
  • You must have 100 games as a referee
  • You must have 12 months as a Grade 7 referee
  • You must Complete ALL the online course training materials of the Grade 6 Referee Course
  • You must have a score of 80% on the State Referee examination
  • You must pass the USSF Physical Fitness Test for State Referee (FIFA Interval Tests)
  • You must be recommended for upgrade in a minimum of 2 passing assessments that meet the sufficient test criteria (from affiliated games with a minimum of 40 minute halves) completed by two different State Assessors, and at least 1 of these assessments must be from an adult game.

To Upgrade from Grade 6 to Grade 5 Referee

You can no longer upgrade from Grade 6 to Grade 5.  Instead you must declare as a national candidate and be approved in order to obtain Grade 5 status.

What you need to know to Declare as a National Candidate for 2015

  • Read the National Candidate and National Official 2015 Certification Instructions from US Soccer
  • You MUST be approved as a National Candidate or a National Referee BEFORE you can request a National Assessment
  • Complete your maintenance assessments as if you were going to re-certify as a state referee in case US Soccer does not accept you as a National Candidate
  • There is no longer a year associated with your candidacy which means you can be a national candidate for multiple years, as well as a possibility of never becoming a National Referee
  • Please complete all administrative requirements as outlined in the instructions no later than Nov 30th 2014
  • Once you have completed your administrative requirements email Katie Bosley at KBosley@ussoccer.com with your intent to apply as a NC and what track you are selecting
  • If US Soccer accepts your application as a NC then they will send you an email with the final steps required to register as a Grade 5 NC

If US Soccer does NOT accept your application, you will need to register online at CNRA.gameofficials.net as a Grade 6 re-certification and email CNRA Registrar your maintenance assessments
