Our Colorado referee counterpart Esse Baharmast has set up a Go Fund Me in support of our fellow Ukrainian referees. Please support if you are able.
A few words from Esse:
“Our goal is to support these referees during their most difficult times as they work to overcome the challenges now being faced by their country. We are asking all referees to ‘Do A Game 4 Ukraine’ and contribute whatever portion of a game fee you are comfortable with to our fundraiser. In turn, the monies raised will be distributed to Ukrainian referees who have relocated to other countries and need assistance as they get settled while awaiting their return home. FIFA referee Kateryna Monzul (World Cup final 2015 referee) has agreed to help distribute these funds to her fellow Ukrainian referees. I have known Kateryna for many years and she is the ultimate professional. She is an architect by degree. And now, because of the war, she had to leave her home in Kharkiv and has relocated to Italy. With the help of our Italian brothers and sisters, she has restarted her refereeing in the Women’s Serie A. It is my hope that all of our US Soccer family will step up and help during this time by contributing whatever they can to our GoFundMe project.”
